  • Ammonite and Picture Jasper and Earrings

There is only 1 item left in stock.

Ammonites are the fossil shells of ancient squid. This animal lived in a shallow sea which covered what is now the Sahara Desert in Morocco. It is about 350 million years old. This polished fossil is about 1 1/2 inches long and is on a 22 inch leather strap.

Jasper, an aggregate of microquartz and/or chalcedony and other mineral phases, is an opaque, mpure variety of silica, usually red, yellow, brown or green in color; and rarely blue. The common red color is due to iron inclusions. The mineral aggregate breaks with a smooth surface and is used for ornamentation or as a gemstone. It can be highly polished and is used for vases, seals, and snuff boxes.

This necklace has a lobster clasp and is adjustable from 16 inches to 18 inches.
